Somewhat Different but Mostly the Same

Spring 2012 marks a re-orientation for LECM. LECM has transitioned from a campus based ministry to a parish based one connected to the Church of the Advocate. This means greater opportunities for our campus ministry. Greater opportunity for service. Greater opportunity for worship. And greater opportunity to share our faith with others. This is an exciting time.
So in addition to LECM being a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese and the Lutheran Synod it is offered in conjunction with The Church of the Advocate located at 18th and Diamond. The Advocate is a historical congregation known for outreach and social justice. The Advocate advocates for the poor, the opposed and the marginalized and offers programs that speaks to the needs of people in the community which now includes the University.
LECM will continue to meet in the Student Center for most activities but we also have a place to gather for a church service upon occasion and to enjoy home cooked meals! LECM continues as an ecumenical ministry that welcomes everyone regardless. We aim to model the radical hospitality offered by Christ.
As the new chaplain I am very excited about what lies ahead of us. I envision a student organization that explores faith matters in fresh and creative ways, enjoys fellowship, serve others and have fun. I invite you to become involved and make LECM a part of your college experience.
